Rioja Spring_ Sajazarra (Primavera perfecta en La Rioja)

Los días laaaargos de primavera son perfectos para los paseos, y si se tienen niños los paseos no son una opción, son una obligación.

El pasado otoño publiqué cuál era para mí el sitio perfecto para disfrutar de esa estación en La Rioja, Ezcaray. Ahora, os recomiendo mi paseo perfecto para la primavera, aunque es verdad que en esta época lo perfecto es pasear, sea por donde sea.

Mi primavera perfecta en La Rioja es Sajazarra.

Es un pueblo de la Rioja Alta del que ya he hablado antes aquí, porque me encanta.

Genial ambiente de tranquilidad, patrimonio arquitectónico por todas partes, río, viñas, y bodegas y vino, claro.

Y ahí van algunos de mis motivos para visitar Sajazarra y volver…

Hay un paseo junto al río como este…

Puedes tomar vinos, elaborados en el mismo pueblo, que están riquísimos.

El único sonido que oyes en toda la tarde son niños gritando de emoción mientras pescan renacuajos en el río...

Miradas del 8 de Marzo

Hace un año, dediqué un artículo por el día Internacional de la Mujer a las mujeres en Construcción yArquitectura, pero este año, la celebración del festival “Miradas de Mujeres” en toda España (incluida La Rioja), ha traído a mi memoria, con el título que han elegido para el mismo, la genial performance de hace unos años de MarinaAbramovic en el MOMA, LA ARTISTA ESTÁ PRESENTE, aquí os dejo un fragmento que a mí me resultó fantástico, por lo directo, retador y abrumadoramente exitoso (es justamente el encuentro de la artista con un antiguo compañero al que no veía en más de una década):

Y, aunque el título del festival artístico creo que quiere poner su énfasis en la visibilidad y la presencia de las artistas femeninas en la actualidad, yo tomo prestado ese tema para destacar la mirada de la mujer, de la artista, y de la mujer en general, porque pocas cosas son tan desafiantes, atractivas y complejas como la mirada de una mujer.

WOBO La botella-ladrillo (brick-bottle)

 

Hace tiempo ya que leí sobre esta botella y seguro que muchos de vosotros la conocéis, pero ya que el nombre de mi blog es el que es, no puedo resistirme a escribir sobre estas imágenes…

Un nieto del fundador de la cervecera holandesa, Alfred Heineken y, cómo no, un arquitecto, John Habraken, idearon en la década de los 60 una botella que pudiese reutilizarse, tal cual una vez consumida, como ladrillo para construcción.

 

La idea de construir con esos “ladrillos”, a los que bautizó como WOBO, surgió tras la visita de Heineken a una isla caribeña en la que vio como los habitantes recogían el material que ensuciaba sus playas y construían con ello chabolas. Aunque esta idea de aprovechar las botellas para construir viviendas ecológicas fue desechada por la compañía, he de reconocer que las imágenes y la idea son muy sugerentes.

 

Parece que eso debe pensar también la compañía, porque en la idea de piezas que encajan como el Lego siguen insistiendo, a juzgar por sus últimos diseños...

 

¡Que tengáis un gran fin de semana! Hoy, como excepción, abramos una cerveza para inaugurar el primer fin de semana de Primavera y color…

LADRILLOS EN LAS BOTELLAS (3): TRIENNIA

Ya hace unas semanas que compartía aquí algunas impresiones sobre mi experiencia enoturística en Bodegas Portia. Del esquema general de planta de la bodega, las tres áreas que desarrollan las tres fases de la vinificación, surge el logo  y la imagen para la botella de Triennia.

De aquella visita me traje a casa una muestra de algunos de sus vinos, entre los que se encuentra el TRIENNIA. La joya de los caldos de la bodega del grupo Faustino en Ribera del Duero, seleccionado y criado en el fabuloso botellero diseñado por el arquitecto Norman Foster, igual que el resto del increíble complejo enológico.

 

He decidido que hoy puede ser un buen día para disfrutarlo y darnos un pequeño homenaje ¿Por qué no? La semana ha sido dura y este puede ser el punto de inflexión para empezar la que mañana llega con otra cara…

Harvest is about to end here in Rioja, and it was a rainy weekend, but not everything it’s grey this fall days…

In my opinion, Fall is the nicest and colorful time of the year to know Rioja. What do you think about these grenades I picked last Saturday? They look really yummy, don’t they?

Atardecer- tras un día de sol- en La Rioja

De  la misma manera – paciente- que los girasoles, cada tarde, agachan la cabeza y esperan, cansados, que mañana vuelva a amanecer, también nosotros   hemos de esperar a que mañana, la semana próxima o el mes que viene volvamos a levantar la cabeza con orgullo, y tomar fuerza, para disfrutar otra etapa de luz, de “sol”.

What are your plans for this summer holidays? We’ve been visiting some nice places of  northern Spain, including great wineries, which I can’t wait to share with you. I hope you enjoy your summer days and relax, have fun, visit family, … whatever.

To me, it’s been such a good time… These are only some pictures from my last weeks.

I’m already back at home, and we have some great plans for the rest of the summer, here in Rioja. I will let you know…

This is a bbq I photographed in my recent trip to Girona. We enjoyed an unforgettable evening and also delicious meal at Ca l’enric, an amazing restaurant not far from Olot. I love this design, simple and elegant.

This weekend, we have nice weather so it might be a good plan to celebrate San Fermín tomorrow evening with Rioja wine and some grilled meat.

BBQs are one of my favorite moments of the summer, I can’t wait to share with all my family a bottle of wine around the fire…

_ ‘The bottle’

Some time ago (years actually!), we were given this bottle of sweet- Hungarian wine by a friend of us, great giveaway, isn't it? Since that day,  it has been in our fridge ready to be drunk. We have been waiting for a special moment to open it, but there have been lots of special moments and we haven’t tasted this.

This is an amazing wine, Tokaji Aszú, made with botrytised grapes, well known all around the world. I’ve tasted wines like this before, but no a 6 puttonyos’ one.

That’s why I’ve decided to open it next weekend, prepare a nice dinner and… 
Thereby that moment will become special!

Summer is here!

It’s time to spend hours outdoors and have some wine with family and friends.

These are some photos I took in a recent trip to Norway, I love these nice terraces and the way Norwegian streets look in the summer. Even it’s not so warm weather as ours; they enjoy outdoors live and care a lot about the decoration and the details of their streets. I wish we’d do it more in many places in Spain.

Therefore, that’s my plan for this weekend: Bike- rides, some children’s swimming pool, and… funny familiar evenings with ‘fresh wine’ at the garden.

Today is an amazing bright and sunny spring Friday! And here is a nice and colored photo I want to share with you. It’s  from a fantastic olive products store (Olive Delicatessen del Mediterráneo) I visited in my latest trip to Barcelona.

A lot of different flavored vinegar bottles, with simple labels, lovely, aren’t they? And it is so good... yummy!

Perfect for a weekend lunch, I can't wait to taste the one I bought.
